columbia
One of the South’s up-and-coming small towns.
Maury County’s seat and traditional center, Columbia is a burgeoning city marked by Southern—and uniquely Tennessean—charm. The city is anchored by the downtown square where Maury County’s historic courthouse dominates the skyline, and a growing scene of local retail shops and offices line the streets.
All Columbia’s charms are on full display at yearly community events on the square like Mule Day and the Columbia Christmas Parade. Off the square, residents enjoy a variety of restaurants and venues plus ample space for outdoor recreation on the Duck River or in local parks.
Columbia is home to several large employers like Farm Bureau of Tennessee and Maury Regional Hospital. Throughout the city, you’ll also find an entrepreneurial spirit, especially in the creative businesses that fill the thriving Columbia Arts Building.
mount pleasant

Mount Pleasant is a quaint city that combines the economic benefits of industry with the charms of small-town living. Situated at the southern end of Maury County, Mount Pleasant affords residents a quieter, slower lifestyle in beautiful surroundings.
The city is centered around a historic downtown dotted by boutique shops, restaurants and a local brewery. The side streets are lined with homes dating back generations, which serve as makeshift concert venues for Mount Pleasant’s “Music on the Porch” series. With just a short drive from downtown, residents can enjoy Middle Tennessee’s natural beauty, such as the peaceful Stillhouse Hollow Falls.
Once “The Phosphate Capital of the World,” Mount Pleasant is still a center for industry in Maury and surrounding counties. It’s home to Cherry Glen, the county’s largest business park, as well as Maury Regional Airport, which primarily serves freight planes to local businesses.
spring hill
A thriving city just minutes from Nashville.
The county’s fastest-growing city rose to prominence in 1985 when Spring Hill was selected for Saturn Corporation’s factory. Since then, Spring Hill has grown immensely, ranking as Tennessee’s fastest-growing city and the country’s 10th-fastest-growing city in 2021.
The original Saturn plant is now a GM manufacturing facility, and several other major corporations have built plants or other facilities in the city. Groove Life, Ultium Cells and Worldwide Stages are just a few of the businesses that have moved to Spring Hill in recent years, bringing great jobs and putting Maury at the forefront of innovation.
Spring Hill, which lies in both Maury and Williamson Counties, has some of the area’s best shopping, recreational activities and new housing. With a median age of 33, Spring Hill is an ideal place for young families who want easy access to Nashville without living in the middle of a major metro area.

Outside of the three cities, Maury County’s countryside is dotted with rural farms and smaller communities. Three of these communities are large enough that they are served by their own Maury County unit schools, which educate students from kindergarten to high school.
